Bachelor’s degree plus 2 years experience working in human services with youth required
Teen Living Programs has 3 part time positions available:FEMALE ONLY: Sunday & Thursday 12:00 midnight to 8:00 a.m.
FEMALE ONLY: Tuesday & Saturday 12:00 midnight to 8:00 a.m.
MALE OR FEMALE: Thursday 4:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m., Friday 3:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., and Saturday 8:00 p.m. to 12:00 a.m.
Teen Living Programs has delivered services to Chicago’s youth since 1976. Its programs for youth who are homeless began in the early 1980s, and in 2001 TLP focused all of its services to that population – the only organization in Chicago to serve homeless youth, exclusively. TLP’s mission is to provide hope and opportunity for youth who are homeless by assisting them to permanently leave the streets, secure stable housing, and build self-sufficient, satisfying lives.
Function:
Responsible for working as a team member to establish and maintain the collaborative and positive tenor of Teen Living Programs Youth Development services. Responsible for the direct overnight care of program youth. Demonstrates an understanding of and commitment to the mission and core values of Teen Living Programs. Reports directly to the Supervisor of YDS-1 team.
Duties: The following duties are the essential functions of this position. Successful job applicants will be able to perform these essential functions with or without requested reasonable accommodation.
Residential Milieu
• Provides general supervision and appropriate intervention in the milieu.
• Works with each client on basic life skills and daily issues impeding their progress toward self-sufficiency.
• Manages any crisis and/or emergency that may occur on the units with clients.
• Responds to after-hours emergency pages and effectively completes all intake paperwork.
• Accompanies youth on activities and presents proper activity documentation to include receipts.
• Supervises youth in maintaining cleanliness of each assigned unit.
• Assists youth with completing daily chores, including cooking.
• Writes clear and concise shift notes and maintains daily logs on all youth.
General
• Works as a part of a team to provide support and assistance whenever needed.
• Prepares and submits all required forms and statistical programs. Maintain documents regarding participants’ cooperation, daily activities and other records in compliance with agency and external policies, procedures and applicable licensing standards.
• Follows agency policies and procedures for the obtainment of information and providing services to clients.
• Participates in program planning and evaluation.
• Participates in and contributes to regularly scheduled supervisory and team meetings.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
